Barcelonette on newcomers
The top fashion blog Barcelonette has lately started a new series of articles dedicated to small entrepreneurs with the "moda" passion.
A helpful way to give visibility to new companies that appear on the market. And it makes it happen not only with pictures and perfect press releases but with a full interview to the founders. This time it's the turn of HIDI, the leather accessories brand already well known here at The Sartorialbag:

Paseando por el Born
Barcelona, barrio del Born. One of the most trendy and fashion oriented area of the Ciudad Condal centre, el Born is characterized by artists, cool people and a "different" kind of tourism if compared to the most centric Rambla and Eixample.
The Catedral del Mar church, oversees the entire space with its gothic style. On the backside, following Paseo del Born and turning right at calle Rec we'll find La Comercial, a group of "tiendas showroom" as the owner loves to describe his creations.
Many are the shop-points as Woman, Man and Casa (home), an all-you-can-find area where even your dog will be delighted by the latest accessories, coolhunted all over the world.
HIDI leather bags could find their space in these amazing temples of top brands research.

Esta noche soy una princesa
It's a statement: fashion blogs are still one of the most listened voice over style and trends. Followed daily by thousands of aficionados they mainly differentiate themselves between ego-blogs, where the writer mostly take pictures of her-himself with different clothes and accessories, and others where there are more comments, analysis and fewer times critics of events, launches and VIP dressing moves.
After Chiara Ferragni of TheBlondeSalad we would love to congrat Sandra and Emma from Estanochesoyunaprincesa.com where they produced an accurate and very well worked presentation of HIDI brand.
Thanks!

A New Take on the Statement Piece
There is certainly an increase in the usage of natural materials in accessories. From purses to jewels, wood has long been appreciated as one of the most elegant and refined resources.
But when it comes to glasses and sunglasses the difficulty to reach resistance standards has always stopped massive productions in accurate finishings. Cartier launched in 2009 the R line with wooden arms and prices over one thousand euros. Lately the italian brand Bob Sdrunk just came out with a handmade line in absolute, solid wood. It takes many craftsman hours to produce one sole piece. Available in 4 different precious and rare woods, the Redwood Burl version of the JFK model is presented in the picture as the perfect match with Aston Martin interiors.

News for the summer
"Doctor handbag is back with this HIDI’s signature distressed classic shape". This is what we read at HIDI website.
"Many customers asked for a summer version of the Landlovers vintage burnt brown" they report from headquarter, "and here we are with the latest lighter shade for the ones who yet want a country style with a slighter point of parisian femininity".
Another option for Landlovers style with a more city oriented taste, we dare to add.

A new way to run - Your way
This year’s retail incentive to hit the gym comes by New Balance, which is introducing a new custom sneaker program next week, a first for the label. Its classic US574 running shoe will be fully customizable, from toe to top to tongue. Even the New Balance “N” can be color-coded. Better still, the custom kicks will be made at the company’s Norridgewock, Maine, factory, which not only burnishes your made-in-the-U.S.A. credentials, it also means you’ll get your pair a lot quicker—within a week or two of ordering. The customization microsite, which launches this Tuesday exclusively on shopnewbalance, even shows you what your sneaker will look like. Instant motivation to get the blood pumping, delivered to your door for about $100.

Shirts, shirts, shirts!
J. Hilburn, a luxury men’s clothing company that specializes in custom clothing, is joining the fray with a new e-commerce component to its Web site that allows men to customize and purchase clothing directly online.
J. Hilburn works in a unique way by letting customers pick fabrics, cuts and style from the site that are then fitted in person by a “personal style advisor.” The advisor will come to a customer’s office and measure and fit them for the right style and outfit.
As J. Hilburn does not require traditional retail space to sell its products, and instead focuses on its Web site and iPhone app, the company can offer these custom products at much lower prices than a traditional tailor.
Some of the company’s custom shirts, for example, cost between $80 and $100, which includes picking a personalized fabric and going through the custom-fitting process. Veeral Rathod, co-founder and president of J. Hilburn, said traditional tailors could charge five times as much.
“There is a huge opportunity in retail right now to disrupt the traditional brick-and-mortar store model, which drives markups and high fixed operating expenses,” Mr. Rathod said in a press release.
J. Hilburn, which opened for business five years ago, says it sold 60,000 custom shirts in 2010.

Chiara and Bob in the blog
I admit it: i'm always impressed following the fashion blogs around the world. There are so many fully involved people into style and some of them really make it trough.
In this case i'll mention Chiara Ferragni, a milanese Bocconi student who was able to set her very well structured ego-blog as one of the most followed in Italy and not only - check what Corriere della Sera wrote: 1 and 2.
Very fond of bags she created also her own shoe brand. Amongst the Burberry, Balenciaga and many other renowned brands outfits, Chiara usually wears our beloved Bob Sdrunk sunglasses, mostly Rubber (left) and JFK (bottom) model.
Take a look at the entire brand line at: HIDI 4 Bob Sdrunk

Viva l'Italia and 'un abbraccio' to Japan
A big "tanti auguri" to Italy, as today it is the 150th anniversary from its birth, and a big HUG (abbraccio) and support to Japan, living the worst catastrophy after the second world war.

Your one and only portrait
They say that your selective memory and your photographic memory have been at odds.
Remedy that with an illustration from Missy McCullough. The LA - based artist works from photos to capture her subjects in charming portraits, enhancing the highlights you want and downplaying, or completely eliminating, anything you don’t.
Send along a single image, let her know what stays and what goes, and she’ll recreate it in her style. Or put together a slew of snapshots (new shoes, favourite book) for her to synthesize into one playful piece.
Under the influence of vintage illustrations, the spirit of fashion magazines from the last century, and McCullough’s sensibility, the results are unforgettable.
Prints, available online @ shop.imissyyou.com. For portraits, e-mail missy@imissyyou.com

Meet their savior: Bristols 6's new kit, with all you need to customize your denim in one handy package: hem tape for length, an extra button—that slides in as easily as an earring—to save the waist, a seam ripper and pumice stone for distress-less distressing, and more. "Light" walking
We discovered this shoes brand at our Spanish showroom last week. Made in Italy, Levius (meaning light in latin) aims to combine a street sneaker with a certain kind of leathered elegance. An attitude that's becoming a trend, where comfy shoes want to be stylish too.

News @ The Brandery II
Actually there were not many interesting brands at The Brandery and, after Bob Sdrunk, we fortunately found one as we really appreciated MA.STRUM stand. A new brand, at least for Europe, dedicated to produce jackets based on Massimo Osti's archive, historic designer and inventor of brands as C.P. Company and Stone Island.
Looking forward for next winter to enjoy the FW 2011 collection.

News @ The Brandery
After Pitti in Florence, Premiere in Milan, Bread & Butter in Berlin, Tranoi in Paris and many others, also Barcelona set up its own fashion show called The Brandery.
The SartorialBag team was there and spotted a very interesting Made in Italy brand called Bob Sdrunk, strange name for an inspired sunglasses collection.
We fell in love for the genuine wood construction, light and superfashion.
Keep following us and we will tell you more!
